THIS GAME WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE 48 HOUR 2022 GMTK GAME JAM.

sKILL or Die is a turn based, dice rolling, tactical battle game. The player uses dice combinations to select power ups and abilities order to defeat their enemy - but be quick - before they get strong enough and defeat you instead.


HOW TO PLAY

Roll Phase: 

1. Dice will Roll. You will gain up to 3 Dice Per Turn. You can have a Maximum of 5 Dice in your Hand. Pray to Lady Luck while you can.


Dice Phase:

1. Discard Dice. Click one or more Dice and then Click the Destroy Fire to Remove the Dice from the Game. This frees up space in your Hand for more Dice.

2. Activate Skill Tree Nodes. When clicked, the Node will highlight all appropriate Dice Set Selections that can be used to Active the Node if you meet its Dice Combination Requirement (e.g. Single, Double, Full House). Click on a Dice from the Highlighted Set to Confirm Activation and use the Dice.

Note: Some Yellow Nodes are Action Nodes that perform Special Actions (see below).


Action Phase:

Selecting an Action will End Your Turn. Either:

1. Click the Attack Button. The player will perform the Default Attack. This costs 0 Dice.

OR

2.  Activate an Action Node. The player will perform a Special Action. This costs Dice. These Nodes can be used repeatedly.


GOAL

First Combatant to lose all their Health loses the fight.


DEVELOPER NOTES

For the 2022 GMTK Game Jam, our team focussed on developing a battle prototype that used dice in an unique way and could be expanded with many features if the core concept was fun.

Due to the time constraint, we prioritised the design and system over Polish and Juice. If the concept is sound, we could expand the prototype with missing elements such as:

- Juice: art, animations, sound effects, music

- Replayability: more enemy types, more player classes with unique Skill Trees, more interesting Skill Nodes

- Balance, balance, balance
